Tatio Geyser Tour Planning

When the clock strikes early, and the sky is still dotted with stars, we’ll start our expedition from San Pedro Atacama to the mystical Tatio Geyser. A journey through the darkness of the desert awaits, but the reward of the sunrise is truly spectacular. This unique view, in which the first light of day mingles with the columns of steam rising from the Earth, creates a landscape that looks like something out of a fairy tale. Once there, we will take you to explore the vast geothermal field, explaining the fascinating history and scientific curiosities of these natural phenomena. And the opportunities to capture unforgettable images will be constant, so don’t forget to bring your camera! With the sun already embracing us with its warmth, we will leave the Tatio Geyser and head towards the White Geyser: A distinct and solitary geothermal well located next to a river. Here, surrounded by breathtaking scenery, we’ll enjoy a nutritious breakfast to recharge our batteries. On the way back, we’ll make several stops to admire the exuberant flora and fauna of the Chilean altiplano. We will have the opportunity to see the emblematic vicuñas and a diversity of birds, and if luck smiles on us, maybe even a fox. Another stop will be the Bofedal Machuca, a high-altitude wetland where is common to find elegant flamingos, especially in the summer and fall seasons! Although the experience can last around seven hours, the memory of the Tatio Geyser will last a lifetime. Best of all, this tour is available all year round! However, it is important to take into account the weather in San Pedro de Atacama since winters can be extremely cold, especially at altitudes above 4,000 meters above sea level.
