Láscar Volcano

$150.000

Venture up to the crater of the Láscar volcano: the most active volcano in northern Chile. The ascent is ideal for people who have no mountaineering experience but are in good physical condition. Or for adventurers who want to acclimatize for greater challenges. The climb has a moderate physical intensity and an easy technical level. To make this trekking, you must have a previous acclimatization, for this, we recommend in the previous days to make tours of more than 4000 meters of altitude (Piedras Rojas, Geysers del Tatio and Ruta de los Salares). CaminAndes offers all the security, experience, and necessary equipment (We also lend items at no extra cost).Itinerary For this activity, we will come to your hotel between 5 to 5:30 a. m. m. We will take route 23 to the Talabre turnoff, where you must pay an entrance fee of $10,000 to the local community. We will arrive approx. 7 a. m. to the beautiful Lejía lagoon, just at sunrise, where together with a delicious breakfast we will have a privileged view of the reflection of the volcanoes in the lagoon. After breakfast, we will go to the foot of the volcano, park the vehicle at 4900 meters above sea level. m. From here begins the ascent that will take us between 3 to 4 hours, depending on the pace of each person. We will arrive at the imposing crater of the Láscar volcano, where we will have time to enjoy and eat a snack prepared by the agency. The descent takes about 1 hour, to return to San Pedro around 5 pm. On the way there and back, we can enjoy the beautiful landscapes of the Chilean Altiplano, where we can see animals such as: vicuñas, foxes, llamas, and zuris (rheas), etc.Important: It is not possible to reach the summit of the Láscar volcano for safety reasons. Recommendations: Preparation is essential to enjoy this experience to the fullest! We suggest you wear warm clothing, as temperatures can be cold at high altitude, trekking shoes that provide support and traction, sunscreen to protect you from the intense sun and, of course, at least two liters of water to keep you hydrated during the ascent. If you have any questions about the itinerary, what to bring for trekking and even about the weather in San Pedro de Atacama, don’t hesitate to contact us!
