El Yeso Reservoir and Baños Colina – A Journey to the Heart of the Andes Mountains

Overview: Deep in the Andes. Enjoy the stunning view of El Yeso Reservoir, walk through the Andes Mountains, and relax with a visit to the thermal waters of Baños Colina. Discover this spot near Santiago with spectacular Andean landscapes, crossing an exuberant canyon until reaching the San José de Maipo volcano in the heart of the Andes. Our journey begins at dawn, heading towards the town of San José de Maipo, a mountain village that welcomes us to the Andes. Our first stop is 2:30 hrs after departure, where we’ll enjoy a delicious breakfast surrounded by the majestic mountains. After this, we’ll visit our first tourist attraction, El Yeso Reservoir. This artificial water reservoir, held back by a dam, supplies half of Santiago’s drinking water, making it of vital importance. Its crystal-clear waters and the natural surroundings of the mountains (snow-covered in winter) make it a must-see destination. We’ll then continue approximately 50 kilometers to Termas Valle de Colina, 100% natural thermal waters nestled in the mountains. The magma activity from the San José Volcano (visible along the route) heats the waters of these beautiful nine pools loaded with minerals, with temperatures ranging between 25 and 55 degrees Celsius. After the thermal bath, it’s time for lunch, which you’ll enjoy at the same location. Later, we begin our return trip to Santiago.

Itinerary planning: Our transport will pick you up at your hotel at the agreed-upon time. The first attraction to visit is El Yeso Reservoir, where we’ll enjoy breakfast by the mountains. We’ll spend approximately 1:30 hrs at this location before beginning our trip to the second stop, Baños Colina Hot Springs. After enjoying the benefits of its waters, it’s time for lunch amidst this natural setting. Around 4:00 PM, we’ll start the journey back to Santiago.

Tour recommendations: To make this tour an enjoyable experience, we recommend wearing comfortable footwear. Since Santiago and its surroundings experience all four seasons, we suggest dressing appropriately (check the weather before heading out). Lastly, use sunscreen.
