Caminandes at the Adventure Travel World Summit 2025: showcasing the essence of the Atacama Desert to the world
The Adventure Travel Trade Association (ATTA) is one of the most important global networks in the adventure tourism industry, bringing together each year the leading players in the field: operators, agencies, specialized media, and destinations that strive to promote a more conscious, sustainable, and authentic form of travel.
This year, the global gathering — the Adventure Travel World Summit (ATWS) — took place in Puerto Natales, Chile, marking a historic milestone for our country as it welcomed, for the first time, hundreds of international delegates eager to experience Chile’s most representative travel adventures.
Caminandes at the ATWS 2025 Pre-Summit
Before the main event, several pre-summits were held across different regions of Chile, giving delegates the opportunity to explore and live unique local experiences.
In that context, Caminandes Agency was selected to represent the Atacama Desert, presenting a four-day expedition specially designed to showcase the essence of what we do: adventure, connection, local gastronomy, and unforgettable landscapes.
A journey that reflects the essence of Atacama
During this experience, participants enjoyed a true immersion into the natural and cultural diversity of northern Chile.
- Day 1: We began with a visit to the Valley of the Moon, one of Atacama’s most iconic places, where the silence, light, and textures of the desert create an incomparable atmosphere for connecting with nature.
- Days 2 and 3: We went on trekkings through canyons, rivers, waterfalls, and archaeological sites, discovering the contrasts of a vibrant and ever-changing landscape. We also camped in two different areas, showcasing the remarkable variety of ecosystems and scenery that coexist in this region.
- Day 4: We concluded with the challenging and symbolic Machuca–Río Grande trekking, a route that blends history, culture, and geography — the perfect summary of what it means to travel through Atacama in search of something deeper than just a view.
Local gastronomy and expert team
Each day was complemented by meals prepared with local ingredients, crafted to reflect the flavors of the highlands and northern Chilean identity. In addition, our team of expert guides and logistical staff ensured a safe, personalized experience deeply connected to the territory.
Chile as a leading destination in adventure tourism
Our participation in the Adventure Travel World Summit reaffirms Caminandes’ commitment to responsible and sustainable tourism that values local communities and nature.
We are proud to have shared with representatives from around the world a genuine glimpse of what the Atacama Desert has to offer: adventure, authenticity, and emotion, all within an environment that continues to inspire those seeking to experience northern Chile in a truly unique way.
