Discovering Valparaíso and Viña del Mar – Explore the Most Important Cities on the Pacific Coast
Overview: Discovering the Pacific Coast Just 1 hour and 30 minutes from Santiago, you’ll find two of Chile’s main coastal cities. In Valparaíso, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, you’ll discover the picturesque and colorful houses that bring life to its hills, as well as its monuments and plazas filled with the history of this port city. On the other hand, Viña del Mar welcomes you with its elegance and modernity, embodying the spirit of the so-called Garden City. A must-visit route during your time in Chile.
Main tourist spots in Valparaíso: 21 de Mayo viewpoint (Cerro Artillería), Barrio Puerto, Plaza Sotomayor, El Peral funicular – ascent to Cerro Alegre, Paseo Yugoslavo, urban art murals, crossing to Cerro Concepción: Templeman staircase, lunch at “Tres Peces” restaurant, Paseo Atkinson, the three churches, piano staircase, Paseo Gervasoni, red door, colored staircase, private boat ride: 20 minutes in Valparaíso’s harbor.
Main tourist spots in Viña del Mar: Flower Clock, Quinta Vergara, Rapa Nui Moai, Avenida Perú promenade, Vergara Pier.
Tour Plan: Our transportation will pick you up at your hotel at the previously arranged time. The first city to visit will be Valparaíso, starting the tour at the “21 de Mayo” viewpoint on Cerro Artillería. Then, we’ll move to “Plaza Sotomayor,” and from there, we’ll explore the history, streets, and hills of Valparaíso on foot. We’ll ascend via the “El Peral” funicular to the “Paseo Yugoslavo” viewpoint, discover the hidden gems of Cerro Alegre and Cerro Concepción, and enjoy lunch at the sustainable restaurant “Tres Peces” (Chilean seafood products). To conclude the tour in Valparaíso, we’ll take a private boat ride lasting approximately 20 minutes through the harbor, experiencing the city from the sea. Afterward, we’ll take our transportation to the city of Viña del Mar. The vehicle will add dynamism to the tour, allowing us to comfortably explore what this city has to offer. During this journey, we’ll share an afternoon snack with you.
Tour Recommendations: To make this journey unforgettable, we recommend wearing comfortable shoes, as much of the tour involves walking. Since Valparaíso and Viña del Mar experience all four seasons and are coastal cities, we suggest dressing appropriately (check the weather forecast before heading out). Lastly, use sunscreen.
*Important: Boat rides are subject to weather conditions. Funicular rides are subject to technical and administrative conditions.
