Rafting on the Maipo River

Overview: Just over an hour from downtown Santiago lies the town of San José de Maipo, offering an adrenaline-filled experience, descending the Maipo River with our fun rafting adventure. In an approximate 1-hour journey, this mountain river will take us through a series of rapids, allowing us to enjoy this thrilling adventure. The current of this river is classified as level 3-4 depending on the time of year. The Maipo River starts as a small stream on the eastern slope of the volcano that shares its name, but it quickly turns into a powerful torrent as it flows toward the sea. Upon reaching San José de Maipo, the river is 1,100 meters above sea level and flows between large rocks that create obstacles, representing a great challenge for those who navigate it. These sections feature the most challenging rapids that we love to conquer. Everyone is welcome to enjoy this experience, especially those rafting for the first time. To ensure that each participant has an incredible journey, we provide state-of-the-art rafts and equipment, along with highly trained and experienced guides who will always prioritize your safety. Itinerary planning: Our transport will pick you up from your hotel at the previously agreed time. We will travel to the town of San José de Maipo, located 1 hour from downtown Santiago. Upon arrival, we will provide all the necessary equipment for this activity. You will have access to changing rooms to change your clothes, as well as private lockers to store your belongings. Once everything is ready, we’ll head to the Melocotón area, approximately 20 minutes from the agency in San José de Maipo. At the banks of the Maipo River, we will provide the necessary instructions for descending the river by raft. After completing the rafting experience, you will receive a snack, and we will proceed with the return trip to downtown Santiago. Tour recommendations: To make your rafting experience enjoyable, we recommend bringing a swimsuit, which will be used with the special suit we provide for the activity.
