Sairecabur is a volcano over 5.974 m.a.s.l., a great opportunity to get to know one of the giants of Atacama!
We’ll leave before sunrise, taking approximately two hours to reach the slopes of Sairecabur. Breakfast is served at 4,000 meters above sea level. Then we’ll continue by car to the highest point by vehicle (5,550 m.a.s.l.). The hike from the Sairecabur sulfur miner starts at 5,550 m.a.s.l. Although the elevation gain is 350 meters above sea level, the trail is difficult, with slopes of more than 40°. The difference in altitude is approximately 450 meters, that’s why it’s recommended to be done by experienced people with good physical preparation. It’s also optimal for mountaineers who are acclimatizing to larger volcanoes. It’ll take 3 to 4 hours to reach the summit and the descent takes 1 to 3 hours depending on the group’s pace.
Recommendations: Warm clothing, trekking shoes, sunscreen, and at least two liters of water. Consult the season and temperature directly with the agency.
