Tour Piedras Rojas, Altiplanic Lagoons – Full Day

$90.000

The Chilean Altiplano, with its surreal landscapes and overwhelming immensity, is home to some of the world’s most dazzling natural wonders. Among these are Piedras Rojas and the Altiplanic Lagoons, places where nature seems to have taken its time to sculpt dreamlike scenery. Piedras Rojas, with its unique tonality, owes its characteristic color to the iron oxidation present in its rock formations. This geological phenomenon, combined with the contrast of the intense blue sky and the crystal clear waters of the lagoons, creates an unprecedented visual spectacle. But while Piedras Rojas is the undisputed protagonist, the Altiplanic Lagoons steal the show with their serenity and beauty. These lagoons, located at more than 4,000 m.a.s.l., reflect the infinite skies of the altiplano, harboring in their waters an endless number of species that have adapted to the extreme conditions of the region. Here, the silence is so deep that it seems that time has stopped, allowing us to connect with nature in a way that few places in the world can offer. So, if you are looking for a destination that combines the majesty of unique landscapes with the richness of high-altitude ecosystems, this is the tour in Chile you were waiting for! Let yourself be surprised by this experience that promises to be unforgettable!

Altiplanic Lagoons Tour Planning

We begin our journey in San Pedro de Atacama, where our team prepares breakfast amidst the serene forests of Tamarugo trees. As we continue, we’ll reach the Tropic of Capricorn, where you can capture a memorable photo. We’ll stop by Socaire for a few minutes to pay the entrance fees to the parks and visit the adobe church built in the 19th century. Please note that the park entrance fees are not included in the tour cost. After an hour of driving and reaching an altitude of over 4,000 m.a.s.l., we’ll arrive at the incredible Salar de Talar or Piedras Rojas. You can enjoy a thirty-minute hike to the most touristy spot, where you’ll witness a breathtaking spectacle of colors that creates a perfect opportunity to capture amazing pictures and connect with nature. On the way back, we’ll head straight to the Flamingos National Reserve, specifically to the Altiplanic Lagoons of Miscanti and Meñiques. These lagoons are a habitat for various species of plants, animals, and birds, including vicuñas, horned taguas, suris, and many more. You can hike through the main viewpoints and admire the magnificent Altiplano. As we leave the park, we’ll take a classic photo of the Altiplanic Highway 23-CH with the stunning volcanoes in the background. After this exhilarating adventure, we’ll have lunch at one of the best hidden places in the middle of the Chilean puna. The return trip takes approximately two hours, and we’ll arrive at San Pedro de Atacama around 5:00 pm. This tour offers a total duration of 8 hours, filled with intense experiences, unforgettable landscapes, and adventures that will remain etched in your memory.
