Snowshoe Trekking – Lagunillas area (winter only)

General description: Just 67 km from Santiago (1-hour drive), you’ll find the town of San José de Maipo, a starting point for a variety of expeditions that allow you to experience the high mountains. From here, just 16 km away, lies the Lagunas area, home to a ski center and several viewpoints at an altitude of 2,200 meters. The snow that accumulates on its peaks invites you to enjoy a fun winter activity, “Snowshoe Trekking.” In addition to admiring breathtaking landscapes, the trek offers direct contact with the snow and the chance to enjoy unique activities that will fill you with excitement and adrenaline, such as sliding down natural ice slides. Snowshoe Trekking is considered an excellent cardiovascular exercise, as well as a great way to strengthen your muscles. Throughout the trek, you will be accompanied by our certified guides, who will make your experience more enjoyable and safe.

Itinerary planning: Our transport will pick you up at your hotel at the previously arranged time. We will travel to the town of San José de Maipo, 1 hour from downtown Santiago. Upon arrival, we will visit the tourism agency to receive initial instructions, adjust our clothing, and prepare the technical gear for the trek. The trekking generally lasts 4 hours (round trip). After the activity, we will have lunch and conclude the tour with our return to the hotel in Santiago.

Tour recommendations: To make your expedition enjoyable, we recommend wearing appropriate clothing for high-mountain trekking, considering that the activity takes place in winter. Temperatures in winter can hover around 5 degrees, and on some days, drop below 0 degrees, with the terrain completely covered in snow. Lastly, don’t forget to use sunscreen.
